Holiday Shakuhachi Performance & Benefit

November 18th, 2015 by studio

Join Masayuki Koga and the Japanese Music Institute of America for a special holiday benefit event.

Masayuki Koga has been a world-class performer, innovative composer and teacher of shakuhachi music for decades. Born and trained in Japan, a former member of the Ensemble Nipponia, Koga founded the Japanese Music Institute of America. The JMIA ensemble headed by Koga-sensei will play traditional pieces for shakuhachi as well as music written by Koga himself.

The Tibetan Gallery & Studio hosted the Japanese Music Institute of America only once before and it was a sold out event. Guests praised the beauty of both the music and art of two masters and the unique opportunity to experience them together.

This special holiday event will benefit both the Tibetan Gallery & Studio (a 501c3) and the Conscious Family Festival.

Light Asian-inspired snacks, Japanese and Tibetan teas, and drinks will be served.

There will also be special gift packages and shopping discounts available to guests from both the Tibetan Gallery, and Many Rivers Books and Tea.
